MAOM Workshop 4: Econometrics Workshop – Canonical Identification Strategies for Empirical Management, Finance, Accounting, and Economics

The Montenegrin Academy of Management, in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics Podgorica, University of Montenegro, and with the support of the global Academy of Management (AOM), is organizing the fourth MAOM workshop titled Econometrics Workshop: Canonical Identification Strategies for Empirical Management, Finance, Accounting, and Economics.

The program begins with an introductory online session on June 23, 2025 (17:00–20:00 CET), followed by four in-person sessions held at the Faculty of Economics in Podgorica on June 27–30, 2025.

The workshop will be led by Dr Stefan Marić, Assistant Professor at Bentley University in Boston, USA. His research focuses on corporate governance and CEO labor markets, using structural econometrics, causal inference, and behavioral experiments.

The workshop is designed to provide participants with practical training in widely used econometric identification strategies for empirical research in management, finance, accounting, and economics. Through a combination of lectures, coding sessions, and collaborative work, participants will learn how to apply causal inference methods using real-world datasets.

The program covers topics including:

– Fixed effects and dynamic panel models
– Instrumental variables
– Difference-in-differences approaches
– Synthetic control methods
– Regression discontinuity designs

Participants will work with real datasets such as Compustat and FRED and will practice implementing these methods through live coding sessions in Stata, R, or Python. The workshop concludes with a capstone team project in which participants apply the learned methods to empirical data.

The training is intended for PhD students, early-career researchers, faculty members, and advanced master’s students in management, finance, economics, and accounting. Participation is free of charge, with a limited number of available places.

Applications are open until June 19, 2025 at 19:19 CET.
