MAOM Workshop 2 – Computational Text Analysis Successfully Delivered

With the support of the global Academy of Management (AOM), the Montenegrin Academy of Management successfully delivered its second MAOM workshop dedicated to computational text analysis.

The five-day workshop brought together twenty participants from all Montenegrin universities. The program began with an online orientation session on March 31, 2025, followed by in-person sessions held from April 5–9, 2025 at the Faculty of Economics Podgorica, University of Montenegro.

The workshop was led by Dr Ivan Župić, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Goldsmiths, University of London, who guided participants through contemporary computational approaches to text analysis and their application in academic research.

During the workshop, participants received practical training in a range of digital research methods, including topic modeling, sentiment analysis, bibliometric techniques, word embeddings, and applications of large language models. Special emphasis was placed on hands-on work with tools such as R Studio, CitNetExplorer, Google Notebook LM, and VOSviewer, enabling participants to develop the technical skills necessary for conducting their own text-analysis projects.

The workshop continues through a post-course phase in which participants further develop their individual research projects and will meet again during an online progress review session scheduled for April 23, 2025.

Through initiatives such as the MAOM workshop series, the Montenegrin Academy of Management continues to strengthen research capacities within the academic community and promote the adoption of contemporary methodological approaches in management and social science research.
