MAOM Workshop 1 – Qualitative Research in Practice: From Theory to Software Applications Successfully Hosted

With the support of the global Academy of Management (AOM), the Montenegrin Academy of Management successfully delivered its first MAOM Workshop titled Qualitative Research in Practice: From Foundations to Software and Theoretical Insights.

The workshop brought together more than 50 professors, researchers, associates, and students from all four Montenegrin universities. The in-person sessions were held on February 10–11, 2025, at the Faculty of Economics, University of Montenegro, in Podgorica.

The introductory lecture was delivered by Professor Milorad Novićević (University of Mississippi), who provided a theoretical foundation for qualitative research and emphasized the importance of methodological alignment between research questions and chosen methodologies.

The main sessions were led by Professor Ivana Milošević (College of Charleston), who guided participants through the key stages of qualitative research, from formulating research questions and designing studies to data collection, coding, analysis, and theory development. Particular attention was devoted to the practical application of qualitative methods and the use of software tools for data analysis, including MAXQDA.

The workshop continues through online modules in which participants are engaged in data coding and analysis, ensuring continuity of learning and deeper engagement with qualitative research practices.

The Montenegrin Academy of Management remains committed to organizing academic and professional initiatives aimed at strengthening research capacity and fostering collaboration between the Montenegrin academic community and the international scholarly environment.
